The February ESL Go4 Cups are now underway, with a new car class and plenty of new faces joining the action, including arguably the world’s biggest sim-racing outfit, the “aliens” of Fanatec-sponsored Team Redline. GT4 is the new car class for February after being winning a fan vote in the ESL forums. It’s the first time that this class has been used in the Go4 Cups and it presents a very different challenge for the drivers. There are several cars on offer in the class including: - Aston Martin Rapide S Hydrogen - Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 - BMW M3 GT4 - Ford Mustang Boss 302R1 - Ginetta G55 GT4 Compared to the open wheel FG1000 used in the last two months, these cars are much heavier and can’t carry as much speed into the corners. Therefore it’s incredibly important that the drivers manage the car's’ weight transfer carefully, to maximise their angle of attack into each bend. Cup 19 took the drivers to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California, home of the infamous Corkscrew chicane and some incredibly steep elevation changes. This definitely threw our racers in at the deep end with a brand new car class, but we still saw some awesome driving throughout all of the races. As always, drivers were competing for a €150 prize fund - split into three €50 prizes, one for the winner on each platform. At the end of February, the top 8 drivers on each platform will be invited to race in the February Final for an additional prize fund of €450!
The next ESL Project CARS open tournament is the Go4 Cup #20 on Sunday February 21 with a €150 prize fund!
Go4 events consist of 4 or 5 weekly cups and a monthly final each month. The Cup Series is free and open to everyone and has €50 waiting for the best player on each platform. The weekly cups take place every Sunday and start at 19:00 CEST. All players earn ranking points to qualify for the Monthly Final where the winners on each platform will receive a €150 bonus! Don’t forget, you can now vote for the circuit you want to race at in the next Go4 Cup. Please visit the ESL Project CARS forums to make your choice!
