This week's ESL Go4 Cups took place at a real driver's circuit, Spa Francorchamps. Spa always brings out the best performances from the smoothest drivers and the latest weekend Cups were no exception. Luke "Actrollvision" Crane enjoyed commentating on one of the best Go4 Finals we've seen so far in Project CARS 2.
Luke was also busy with Round 7 of his "Triple Threat" league for all manner of drivers, from beginners to pros, in GT cars from GT5 to GT3. The Triple Threat league was in the US once again, this time taking in the mixture of fast banking and tight twists that make up the Indianapolis Road Course. Read on to catch-up with the reports and videos from this week's racing.
The ESL Go4 Cup this week could have been called the TX3 Go4. Five drivers from the French team made it to the PC final, with Toutouner taking pole from team mate Storm. Into turn one they went, and Toutouner seemed to allow Storm to take the lead. Toutouner then weathered a lot of pressure from VP_Isaac almost backing the VP Gaming driver into Popsu to try get a full house of TX3 pilots onto the podium, but Isaac held strong. Storm took his second Go4 win very comfortably. The biggest highlight of the race was lap four, where Jardier spent a full three minutes setting up a pass on Oscaro's Rotax, and produced one of the best overtakes we've seen into the Bus Stop chicane. Rotax then dropped further down the pack until he eventually retired what was a very entertaining race indeed.
The "Triple Threat" league this week reached Round 7, and travelled to the Indianapolis Road Course. Raccoon21 rose back to the top of the podium, to all but secure the GT5 championship title. Tezh73 and MattFunk put up a hell of a fight but to no reward, and their chances of catching the leader are becoming very slim. The Driver of the Day was Graham069 who managed to reach the top five on his league debut.
In the GT4 competition all of the drivers arrived wondering if Papano would rack up yet another victory. MrMahonii certainly didn't think so. For 25 minutes he followed his rival, Papano within a couple of tenths, until the "German "assassin made his move in the final turn to take the chequered flag. There was also a debut podium for Bluesboy71, newly promoted up from the GT5 league, which made him the Driver of the Day.
At the top of the "Triple Threat" league sits the GT3 competition. Championship leader, DriverR1 returned from the "World's Fastest Gamer" finals this week and was straight back in business, leaving everyone else to fight for second place. This race saw battles absolutely everywhere, with DzsCatfish and Weller1983 rounding out the podium. But the biggest story was Xwolf1369 picking up 2 valuable points and dragging himself away from the bottom of the standings, and the threat of relegation into the GT4 league. The Driver of the Day was of course, DriverR1.
