This Week In Project CARS: Epic Battles In The Monthly Cup Finals

Every month the ESL Project CARS Finals pit the best 12 drivers from the previous 4 Sunday Cups against one another in a two-race battle for €100. Earlier this week, the belated December 2017 Finals took place at last, and the PC field delivered some spectacular racing. Catch-up with Actrollvision's coverage of the action below, as well as his detailed race reports.
It was a star-studded field for the PC Finals in the Go4 Cups. Oscaro's Rotax and Norbi, Tx3's Popsu, Toutouner and Rx07, and F4H's Jaaames28 were all in attendance. Team ACR also had two participants in this month's final, with Jardier and LX.

Race 1 in the Touring Cars was at Laguna Seca for a 15 lap sprint. In qualifying, there was no stopping Oscaro Rotax as he led the way, with ACR Jardier in second and Tx3 Popsu in third. Rotax had a great start, as did Jardier, but TX3's Popsu had rough getaway, and was down to 6th by the first corner. Rotax and Jardier were separated by no more than a few tenths for 8 laps before Jardier ran wide at turn 6 and received a penalty that he could not recover from. Rotax won race 1 for 10 points, with Jardier second for 8 points, whilst an unbelievable recovery drive saw Popsu take 3rd place and 6 points.
Race 2 took place at Hockenheim GP. Rotax had his destiny in his own hands after winning race 1. Jardier needed to finish ahead of Rotax by 2 seconds to take overall victory, and Popsu needed a miracle. All 3 needed a good performance, and they definitely delivered. Rotax secured yet another pole, by half-a-second no less, with Jardier 2nd and Popsu 3rd. The lights went green and Rotax got a phenomenal start, as did the 2 guys behind. They navigated the first lap cleanly and with a gap to the rest of the field battle commenced. For the first 6 laps Rotax held firm, separated from Jardier and Popsu by no more than a piece of paper, until he ran wide at turn 3 and lost 2 seconds to a penalty. Jardier took the lead, but Rotax knew that all he had to do was stay within 2 seconds of the lead, and he would win the event overall.

Three laps went by, and Rotax cleared the deficit then made his move on Popsu into the hairpin, but unfortunately he collected Jardier in the process. By some miracle, Jardier held on to top spot, but it looked inevitable that Rotax would take the championship win. Up stepped Popsu with 2 super laps. He made a fantastic clean move on Rotax into the hairpin. Jardier held on for the win to also take overall victory, Popsu's 2nd place gave him 3rd overall, and Rotax completed the podium in the final race, to take 2nd overall.

Congratulations to all of them, and also a big shout out to Toutouner, LX, Norbi and Jaaames28 who displayed some very close racing action. Rx07 had an unfortunate run in the Finals, but at least provided the viewers with some delicious burnouts at the end.

There was also a very close finish in this week's regular Go4 Cup action at Monza. Be sure to check that out in the video below.
