After a busy year of racing in 2017, there is no rest for the wicked, as Actrollvision's "Triple Threat" league jumped straight back into action this week, with the first races of its second season. The Red Bull Ring was the venue for this league that welcomes newcomers into its GT5 class, intermediate drivers in GT4, and experienced racers in GT3.
First up was the GT5 class, and in a tightly fought qualifying it was Graham_068 who grabbed pole, having pipped Bafrage by 4 thousandths of a second with a 59:280. Graham_068 then made a wonder start in the race, as did Uxthink, who went from 4th to 2nd after turn 1. It was a battle from start to finish between these two, as they swapped positions every other lap, before Graham_068 finally took the chequered flag. 3rd place was a scrap between Bafrage and Phatmatt, who came through in the end to sneak ahead of Bafrage on the line by 0.05. It was a very close start to the season and PhatMatt was Driver of the Day. Read on to catch-up with the GT4 and GT3 action.
In the GT4 class, a new name topped the timesheets in qualifying. 14 year old AlexX2121 from Belgium put old hats like Wizztek1, o_Rapidz_o and Bluesboy71 in their place by taking pole on his debut. He also got a dream start in the race, which gave him an early 1 second lead over bubblebart and Bluesboy71 with Wizztek1 just behind. Wizztek1 showed a level head and made his way up to 2nd position, and he then set about making inroads into Alex's lead. But disaster struck for Alex when his internet cut out and surrendered his spot in the lobby. That left Wizztek1 to pick up the win, whilst Bubblebart' and Bluesboy71' battled for second. It was yet another photo finish as of the final corner, bubblebart just clinched second spot from Bluesboy71. Wizztek1 was the Driver of the Day.
Round 1 of Season 2 ended as always with the top drivers battling it out in the GT3 class. DriverR1 of eSports+Cars remains the man to beat after taking the season 1 title, but it was Azaziel who took the pole at race one. KC-Buzz and TropperMatt also did well to clinch 2nd and 3rd in qualifying. Onto the race, and TropperMatt in his Ferrari made an incredible start and got up into the lead, with Curry_Wurst who started 4th up into 2nd. KC-Buzz and Azaziel were 3rd and 4th. After some issues with his steering wheel, Azaziel unfortunately could only muster an 11th place finish. TropperMatt, would took the win from Curry_Wurst in 2nd and KC-Buzz in 3rd. Watch the video for an epic, must-see 8 car mid-pack battle. TropperMatt was the Driver of the Day.

Make sure you join the racing action next weekend, and sign-up for the next ESL Go4 Cup.
