The Project CARS 2 "Triple Threat" League by ACR powered forward with Round 8 of the season, at the high-speed curves of Silverstone. The GT5, GT4 and GT3 classes were our in force once again, with some great close racing on offer. First-up it was the GT5 class on the National Circuit.
Going into the GT5 race, a win for Lancerevoo would have guaranteed him his first ever ACR title, but with a few new boys in the league his day did not go to plan. Up stepped Quasi-404 to grab pole position on his debut, which must have felt like 'error 404' for Lancerevoo. He was within a tenth in second spot, with another new driver, Anzanmss from Turkey in third. The lights went out and Lancerevoo got a superb start which took him into top spot before the apex of turn one. Ashjw got up to second, which left Quasi to battle Shushkata and Azmanmss for the final podium spot. This battle lasted all race, until Shushkata claimed second on the line from Ash as he had a penalty. The real compelling story of this race was the battle for 6th, which saw Knightcrower270, Dazleon648, Correndath and Skitsophonic finish in that order, but it was a race long battle with more position changes than there are costume changes in a broadway musical. Lancerevoo picked up the Driver of the Day award with a faultless win, which also gave him the championship to boot. Read on for the GT4 and GT3 results.
The GT4 race took place on the International circuit. Championship leader DJKrick was unable to take part, which gave Thecrusherbro and Valeboss a chance to take the points lead. Thecrusherbro started with a formidable qualifying lap to get into first spot, with Babajaga in second and BrickPsychosis in third. In a pretty uneventful race that is exactly how it would finish, so Thecrusherbro is the new leader of the championship and has guaranteed his place in next season's GT3 class. He was also the Driver of the Day.
In the 'Pro' tier of GT3, it was a great spectatcle. Qualifying saw heavy fog and a downpour, which Ginger_Ferret thrived on, and took pole. The race was in much better conditions with just a light shower and more clear skies. ACR Kamikaze got off to an absolute flier, and held off pressure from Hansfan (last season's champion) to take the win. MOP_patryaffairs took third although a spirited fight back from Alexx2121 almost spoiled a double Norwegian podium. Elsewhere saw Curry_Wurst, championship leader, Robinjus, Xwolf1369 and Weller1983 duke it out bumper-to-bumper for the entire race. Championship leader, Robinjus could only manage fifth place, but his rival, Blankfile could only muster seventh after a week to forget, although he did qualify 13th, so it was a great come back. Alexx2121 was the Driver of the Day.
