Donington Park was the venue for ESL Go4 Cup #20, the second Project CARS eSports event for February 2016. This week saw some some big changes in the CARS eSports scene, with some of the leading drivers changing sides as the biggest teams begin to headhunt the best talent in the build up to the 2016 Driver Network season.
On the track, it was GT4 class action once again, with Aston Martin, BMW, Ford and Ginetta all represented. This was the second Cup to use these cars, so the drivers are now getting used to how these machines handle, increasing their confidence and their speed as this month’s rivalries start to heat up.
Like last week’s venue, Laguna Seca, Donington Park is a challenging course with blind corners and lots of elevation change. This is a much faster track than Laguna though, so maintaining momentum from corner to corner is key to quick laps here. The famous Craner Curves are the most important and iconic section of the circuit. A sweeping, steep downhill sequence of rights and lefts that is flat out all the way. Master this section and you’re well on your way to conquering the course.
As always, drivers were competing for a €150 prize fund - split into three €50 prizes, one for the winner on each platform. At the end of February, the top 8 drivers on each platform will be invited to race in the February Final for an additional prize fund of €450!
The next ESL Project CARS open tournament is the Go4 Cup #21 on Sunday February 21 with a €150 prize fund!
Go4 events consist of 4 or 5 weekly cups and a monthly final each month. The Cup Series is free and open to everyone and has €50 waiting for the best player on each platform. The weekly cups take place every Sunday and start at 19:00 CEST. All players earn ranking points to qualify for the Monthly Final where the winners on each platform will receive a €150 bonus!
Don’t forget, you can now vote for the circuit you want to race at in the next Go4 Cup. Please visit the ESL Project CARS forums to make your choice!
