The season finales of the Logitech G Challenge for 2020 started with a bang as the EMEA Champion was crowed on Saturday. Thousands of virtual racers entered the 2020 tournament for a chance to win a once in a lifetime driver training experience with F1 star Lando Norris, but in each region there can only be one winner. If you missed the action, catch up at Logitech's Twitch channel. Expect spoilers in the report below.
All of the races in the EMEA Finals were in the McLaren 650S GT3 in Project CARS 2. It all started at Silverstone, where Chris 'Nade' McDade dominated with tremendous style. A favourite of the Actrollvision Community Racing, Chris brought his league racing experience to the table to really show his skills on an official esports stage for the first time. There was some great battling elsewhere in the pack too between familiar sim-racing names like Brandon Abraham and Patryk Adamczyk.
Race 2 around the fast & flowing Brands Hatch circuit saw a big incident on the first lap which opened up the race, and the brought several drivers into contention for the EMEA crown. Victory in race 2 went to Patryk Adamczyk, whilst elsewhere in the battles we saw some truly tremendous sportsmanship from Matthew Jordan.
The tight confines of the barrier-lined Azure Circuit was the venue for the final race of the night, and drama ensued. A big accident in the initial running of the race led to the adjudicators calling for a re-run, where Abraham, Adamczyk, & McDade had a wonderful cat-and-mouse battle around a track where it is incredibly hard to overtake. Abraham gradually pulled clear of his rivals though to bring home victory around 4 seconds ahead of the chasing McDade and Adamczyk.
It was a fantastic evening of racing, and we can't wait to do it all again with the LATAM Finals on Saturday November 21. Follow Logitech G Esport on Twitter for all the latest information about the G Challenge, and details for how to tune in to the LATAM Finals this Saturday.
